New Mexico Wedding Locations

Whether you’re eloping in Taos, planning a large wedding at El Monte Sagrado, Taos or are having a big affair at the Albuquerque Balloon Museum, you’ll need a wedding officiant. If you’re looking for a unique wedding location beyond the SpiriTaos Gardens venue, this page is here to help! You can also give me a call to hear more about these places to have your wedding.

Following are some favorite places I’ve officiated in northern New Mexico. There are certainly more locations and we are happy to officiate at the spot you’ve chosen. We’ve broken our list into two sections:

  1. Venues that charge a rental fee
  2. Public land that you can use without getting a permit or paying a fee

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge Overlook

A popular spot for elopements and intimate weddings! The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge Overlook, is just 20 minutes from town. The bridge is a top tourist destination in northern New Mexico, yet our spot is away from the crowds. If you don’t mind “being on the edge” and an occasional person walking by, this spot offers expansive vistas. Easily accessed by a 10 minute walk on a solid, level path to a vantage point looking back up at the bridge, down into the gorge and river while standing in the wide open sage flats with the stunning Sangre de Cristo mountains as a backdrop. Note: This location should be avoided in June due to clouds of biting “no-see-ums.”

John Dunn Bridge

Get married on the beach at the John Dunn Bridge, 30 minutes north of Taos. It has the added attraction of being the confluence of the Rio Hondo and Rio Grande. If you’d rather be above, overlooking the Rio Grande Gorge and John Dunn Bridge, we offer a spot in the sage where the views are more expansive.

El Nogal Campground

The El Nogal Campground is a close-in option (less than 10 minutes from the Plaza) when you want a mountain feel. Choose a sprawling juniper, cottonwood shade or streamside spot for your elopement. If you’re a mountain biker, this is the Taos terminus for the famous South Boundary Trail.

Taos Ski Valley

The Taos Ski Valley is packed with its own venues and possibilities. One sweet spot for a winter elopement is a 5 minute walk from the main parking area. Your pictures will sparkle and give the illusion that you’re off in a remote forest setting. There is also the Midway Bridge, a lovely spot for elopements April-October.

San Francisco de Asís Mission

If you’d like your pictures to hint at the historic past of Georgia O’Keeffe or Ansel Adams, San Francisco de Asís Mission Church in Ranchos de Taos (10 minutes south of the Taos Plaza) is a charming spot.
