Eloping in Taos

Let me clarify, from the get-go, that I use the term elopement generically and not necessarily in the traditional sense where just the two of you run off secretly and possibly spontaneously. You can have a true elopement in Taos and there are infinite variations on the concept. In many cases it might be more accurate to describe it as an intimate wedding or simply a small wedding.

If you’re looking to elope in Taos the two of you can go to the county clerk in Taos at 105 Albright Street Suite D, Taos, NM 87571 and procure your license right up to and including the day of your wedding and as a wedding minister in Taos I am often available on short notice. Many couples do a little more planning in order to be certain that they have a minister, a location and a celebratory accommodation or dinner reservation.

Eloping to Northern New Mexico, particularly in the Taos area, has a great deal of appeal. It is a unique and beautiful mountainous area – truly the Land of Enchantment – and is steeped in the mystique of spirituality. The Taos, New Mexico area offers myriad opportunities and locations for those choosing to elope. If you’re hoping for a unique wedding location in Taos, you can find picturesque garden settings, wide open spaces with mountain views or the drama of the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge overlook.

058When guests are included, your elopement is no doubt part of a planned long weekend or vacation. What a great way to celebrate with close family and friends and avoid all the stress of a conventional wedding! Why worry about 100 guests when a handful of you can ski, raft, balloon or gallery and museum hop in the outdoor adventure and art center capital of northern New Mexico.

When you’re planning your elopement I’d be thrilled to be your Taos wedding celebrant. As such I can give you more ideas for making it memorable. And I’ll build a short and sweet ceremony that becomes the meaningful heart of your elopement in Taos. In the next few weeks I’ll be announcing two Elopement  Wedding Packages which will simplify your planning by providing “one stop shopping” for a venue, officiant, flowers, photographer and incidentals. Inquire now or check back to this site in early March!
